About Maiya
Maiya is a Registered Counselling Therapist–Candidate who supports individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and challenges during the perinatal period. With a background as a birth and postpartum doula and perinatal wellness counsellor, she has spent years supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting. Her work often includes supporting clients processing complicated birth experiences, navigating parenting challenges, and working through anxiety and panic-related concerns.
Her approach is structured, warm, and flexible, integrating dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) skills with somatic and mindfulness-based perspectives. She also incorporates an understanding of physiological health in trauma recovery, supporting clients in developing practical tools for emotional regulation while reconnecting with the body and nervous system.
Outside of her practice, Maiya enjoys spending time with her sidekick dog and exploring the outdoors, as well as expressing creativity through music as a pianist and songwriter.
